President
The Kent Area (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, KAC, has a rich legacy of more than 47 years of genuine friendship and dedicated service to Summit, Stark, Portage, and Medina counties in Ohio. Our 37 dynamic members are committed to providing impactful, sustainable, and transformational programs that address the most critical needs of our underserved communities. Through our national and area-wide award-winning Breast Cancer Education, Awareness and Advocacy Program*, (embed a link here to HHS breast health program section of website) aimed at early detection of breast cancer, more than 1,200 women have received free mammography services, over 14,000 women have received education and referral services, and thousands of women in need have received free bras and breast self-exam training. Additionally, we continue to offer our national and area-wide award winning digital photography workshop** (embed a link here to Arts digital photography section of website) to 20 African American students which includes darkroom training and an exhibit of their final works at the Massillon Museum. This program was awarded first place for Arts at our National Assembly in 2022 and first place at the Central Area Conference in 2023. During the height of the Pandemic, KAC launched a food pantry and this year we are launching our Dress for Success program (embed a link here to NTS section of website). The food pantry program was also awarded first place at the Central Area Conference in 2023. These are examples of the many ways in which we enrich the lives of members of the communities we serve, and it is our privilege to humbly do so with the support of our friends and community partners (embed a link here to community partners section of website).
