THE KENT AREA (OH) CHAPTER OF THE LINKS, INCORPORATED HOLDS 2026 EXPO TO SUPPORT NATIONAL BLACK FAMILY WELLNESS EFFORT
Akron, Ohio, March 21, 2026 — The Kent Area (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will hold its 2026 Black Family Wellness Expo on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in an effort to reduce health and economic disparities and to save and improve lives in the Black community. This effort in Akron and Summit County is aimed at addressing health inequities that negatively impact the health and quality of life for many individuals and families in our community.
The local event is part of The Links, Incorporated’s nationwide Black Family Wellness Expos initiative, which mobilizes chapters across the country to leverage the power of our membership in the effort to improve outcomes for Black families.
The 2026 Black Family Wellness Expo contributes to The Links National Wellness Expos effort to raise awareness about conditions that shorten or impact the quality of life for those in the Black community. The entire Black family is included, from infant to senior citizen.
Issues that will be addressed at this year’s Expo include:
• Blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, and glaucoma screenings
• Breast cancer awareness and mammogram screenings
• Heart health education
• Blood donation opportunities
• Mental health awareness and resources
• Opioid and other stimulant misuse prevention education
• Voter registration and civic engagement information
• Child passenger safety through car seat distribution (pre-registration required)
In addition to health screenings and education, attendees will have access to more than 40 exhibitors, free refreshments, children’s activities, exercise and fitness demonstrations, and community resources designed to promote whole-family wellness.
